Introduction and Purpose
- The Ateneo Alumni Association (AAA) created the Alumni Esports Challenge (AEC) with the main purpose of building its membership base, and raising funds for its scholarship program. All funds raised in AEC shall be for funds to help students’ financial needs, and for scholarships.
- It is a program which aims to bring members together in a fun and challenging environment, playing world-renowned games and famous online esports, encouraging teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship. It also aims to exercise the minds of its participants, promoting a healthy stimulus for strong mental health and character, especially during a time of great loss and grief that the whole world is experiencing during the pandemic.
- The absence of actual sports played face-to-face at the usual sports venues and arenas, AEC is pegged to be played online, initially from the homes of the players while in lockdown. Eventually, in a safer and secure time when more people can be allowed to gather, players can be gathered at a venue where they can perform and play the egames from. Ideally, the tournament is set up with a back office where certain technical operations take place, and from where hosts and game commentators, “shout casters” or “callers”, are located.
- These official rules of the AAA Alumni Esports Challenge 2021 apply to each of the Teams who have registered to play in the Ateneo Alumni Esports Challenge 2021 from December 17, 2021 to December 19, 2021. These rules also apply to the Teams’ Team Coaches, Managers, Owners, Starting Lineup, Substitutions (collectively “Team Members”) and other employees.
