Esports Challenge Moved to January 2022

The Ateneo Alumni Association (AAA) in partnership with Smart Signature has extended the registration period of players for a few more weeks, and has moved the Alumni E-sports Challenge 2021 (AEC) to January 20 to January 22, 2022, the first amateur e sports tournament created for the academe. Visit the AEC microsite at https://esports.ateneoalumniassociation.org to register your IGN and teams, or to download the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang app. Each team should have five (5) Gamers and one (1) Team Captain, three (3) of whom should be Ateneo Alumni Association members, and the rest may be comprised of family members and friends. AAA also allows Professional Gamers to join, but only one (1) per team will be allowed. Simply scan the PayMaya QR code located on the site to pay the P500.00 joining fee. Registration will end on January 19, 2022, at 12AM. The P500,000 prize pool for the event will be split, with 1st place receiving P250,000, 2nd place receiving P125,000, 3rd place receiving P75,000, and 4th place receiving P50,000. Players shall use a Smart SIM to play — Smart being the “god father” of e-sports in the country, and the country’s biggest mobile and data service provider. More than just cash, P500,000 in gadgets, merch items, and other non-cash prizes from various sponsors will also be on the line for winners, participating teams, and viewers alike.

AEC will be a single round robin tournament, with the top eight teams playing through the semi-finals, and concluding with the top four teams in the finals. Action from the quarterfinals, semi-finals, and finals will be live streamed on the Ateneo Alumni Association and Smart Facebook pages — promising three days of intense and exciting matches. The whole AEC tournament shall also be aired as an 1-hour special on Cignal TV at a latter date.
